Organic ground flaxseed (linseed) is a very popular whole food which has been cultivated for over 6000 years. You may sometimes hear these little nutrient dense seeds being called linseeds – they are exactly the same thing.
One 30g serving of ground flaxseed is high in protein, fibre, B1, magnesium and manganese. Flaxseed is actually one of the richest sources of plant based omega 3 fatty acids (also called alpha-linolenic acid – ALA).
You can buy whole flaxseed which are best soaked or ground before use, but this flaxseed has already been ground for you.
Flaxseed is a great binder so it can be added to soups or stews to help them thicken or to help gluten free flours bind.
